Boston Celtics Receive 2024 NBA Championship Rings and Raise 18th Franchise Banner at Season Opener
The Boston Celtics kicked off their season in style earlier this week, as they received their 2024 NBA Championship rings and raised their 18th franchise banner at TD Garden. The rings, designed by the renowned Jason of Beverly Hills, are a dazzling display of over 15 carats of diamonds.
After the ring ceremony on Tuesday, CEO Jason Arasheben expressed his pride in the design, stating, “It is truly a piece of history and it tells the story of the entire organization. The city, the season, the playoffs – everything you could imagine. This is a Boston ring through and through.”
The ring’s design is centered around the number “18,” representing the Celtics’ 18th championship banner. The outer bezel features 18 emerald cut diamonds, while the side bezel boasts 84 point diamonds, symbolizing the team’s playoff winning percentage and their impressive 16-3 run in the postseason. The inner bezel is adorned with 16 emerald cut diamonds, representing the number of playoff wins the Celtics had in 2024. The playoff series results are also etched on the inside of the ring’s shank.
The face of the ring features 30 points of diamonds in the shape of the word “World,” representing the total number of seasons the Celtics have played at TD Garden. The word “Champions” is also spelled out in 80 white diamonds, honoring the team’s combined 80 wins. The iconic parquet floor of TD Garden is etched on both sides of the ring, along with the team’s impressive 80-21 record.
On the player side of the ring, each player’s name and number are featured, along with two additional diamonds that represent the total championships won under Boston’s current ownership. The team’s mantra from last year, “Whatever It Takes,” is also included on the right side.
But the rings hold even more surprises, with two hidden elements that are only revealed when the top is removed. The inside of the top of the ring features a piece of the parquet floor from TD Garden, along with the date and score of the team’s championship-clinching win over the Mavericks. On the other side, a championship banner and the jersey number of each player on the team are displayed.
And for a truly interactive experience, each ring also features an NFC chip that allows players to hold their phone against the wood parquet and watch a video of how the ring was made. Take a closer look at the stunning rings in the photos above and below.
