Paris Fashion Week: A Wave of Creative Director Debuts for Spring 2026 Women’s RTW Season
Paris Fashion Week Calendar Released: 76 Shows and 36 Presentations to Take Place
Paris is about to get a major fashion makeover as the city prepares to host a slew of highly anticipated creative director debuts for the Spring 2026 women’s RTW season. From September 29 to October 7, the fashion world will be buzzing with excitement as designers like Matthieu Blazy, Jonathan Anderson, and Pierpaolo Piccioli take the reins at iconic luxury brands like Chanel, Dior, and Balenciaga.
The Paris Fashion Week calendar, released on Thursday by the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, features 76 runway shows and 36 presentations. But all eyes will be on the luxury establishment, which has faced a challenging year of dwindling sales and other obstacles.
Leading the charge with some of the most highly anticipated debuts is Chanel, where Matthieu Blazy will present his first-ever line on October 6 at the Grand Palais. Jonathan Anderson, one of the busiest and most influential designers in the industry, will follow up on his Dior men’s debut with his first Dior women’s collection on October 1. And with big shoes to fill following Demna Gvasalia’s departure, Pierpaolo Piccioli’s Balenciaga debut on October 4 is another highly anticipated event.
Other notable debuts include Miguel Castro Freitas at Mugler, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez at Loewe, and Glenn Martens at Maison Margiela. And after more than a decade, Jean Paul Gaultier will make a comeback to the ready-to-wear schedule with Duran Lantink’s first JPG collection.
The question remains whether these creative turnarounds will be enough to rescue the luxury sector from the challenges it has faced, including dwindling sales, labor scandals, data breaches, and tariff legislations. While the industry has been labeled as experiencing a “luxury slowdown,” there is hope that conscious brand evolution and fresh aesthetics could spark a recovery.
