Oasis Reunites for Live ‘25 Tour: A Look Back at Their Iconic Style and Impact on British Culture
The highly anticipated Live ‘25 reunion tour by Oasis has finally kicked off, 16 years after the Gallagher brothers’ public falling-out that led to the band’s split. The Britpop band not only made a huge impact on the music scene in the 1990s, but also left a lasting mark on British culture with their unique style.
From bucket hats to Burberry check and fishtail parkas to buttoned-up polo shirts, Oasis’ fashion choices became the Britpop uniform, blending classic mod style, sartorialized football terraces, and Manchester-born attitude. This iconic look immortalized a moment in British music that resonated far beyond the UK.
And throughout it all, Berghaus – the British outerwear brand with a German-sounding name – was right there in the mix. In 1997, at an Oasis show in Oslo, Liam Gallagher made a statement by wearing a red Meru jacket by Berghaus on stage. This moment, captured in a now-iconic photograph, catapulted the brand into the consciousness of both Oasis fans and fashion enthusiasts.
To commemorate this moment, Berghaus is rereleasing the Meru jacket in “the exact colorway Liam wore” as part of their limited-edition Concert Collection. This capsule also includes two other iconic pieces from the Berghaus archive. The Meru jacket, originally launched in 1994, will be available in “Red/Blue” (Liam’s choice), “Purple/Grey”, and “Green/Black”. The brand is also bringing back the Trango jacket, a heavy-duty waterproof jacket from 1986, known for its triple layer of GORE-TEX for maximum protection from wind and water. The Trango comes in “Red/Blue”, “Red/Grey”, and “Grey/Dark Blue” options.
In addition to the jackets, Berghaus is introducing the 1997 Fleece – a new piece in their range, despite its name – which they describe as a “staple [with] the DNA of an icon”. The fleece features a boxy cut for ultimate coziness and comes in “Red/Blue”, “Red/Grey”, and “Green/Grey” colorways.
The full Concert Collection is now available on Berghaus’ website, with prices starting at £120 GBP (approx. $162 USD). Don’t miss your chance to own a piece of Oasis and Berghaus history.
