Chanel’s Métiers d’Arts Collection to Debut in New York City, Honoring Karl Lagerfeld’s Legacy
Matthieu Blazy, the rising star of Chanel, is set to make his mark in the fashion world with his highly anticipated Métiers d’Arts collection debut in New York City on December 2. This will be Blazy’s second show for the iconic fashion house, following his successful Ready-to-Wear debut in October.
The upcoming show will not only showcase the exceptional craftsmanship of Chanel’s Paris ateliers and specialty workshops, but it will also pay tribute to the late Karl Lagerfeld’s final show in 2018, which also took place in the Big Apple. This will be Chanel’s first return to New York City since Lagerfeld’s passing, making it a highly emotional and nostalgic event for the fashion house.
Bruno Pavlovsky, President of Chanel SAS, shared with WWD, “It was Karl’s last show, so we always get a little nostalgic when we talk about it in-house. But going back to New York with Matthieu and the beginning of a new season is super exciting.” Blazy, who is taking over from Virginie Viard, is expected to infuse the creative energy of the city he knows so well with Chanel’s exceptional savoir-faire.
Blazy is no stranger to New York, having previously worked under Raf Simons at Calvin Klein for several years. A newly released visual teaser for the collection features a bold double C logo over a vintage subway map, hinting at a possible tribute to New York City’s vibrant culture and Lagerfeld’s creative legacy at Chanel. As of now, an official date for the runway presentation has not been announced, but fashion enthusiasts can stay tuned to Hypebeast for the latest updates on this highly anticipated event.
