The Black Pander: How Kamala Harris is Trying to Sway Young Black Men with Weed Legalization

Today, we’re taking a closer look at Vice President Kamala Harris and her latest campaign pledge. Our focus? Her efforts to win over young Black male voters by promising cannabis reform and economic opportunities. Now, don’t get me wrong – these are crucial issues that demand our attention. However, there’s something about the timing and delivery that’s setting off my bullshit radar.

First off, let’s talk about the timing. With the 2020 election just around the corner, it’s no surprise that politicians are pulling out all the stops to secure votes. And while Harris has been a vocal advocate for cannabis reform in the past, it’s hard to ignore the fact that this promise is conveniently surfacing during campaign season. Call me cynical, but it’s hard not to see this as a calculated move to appeal to a specific demographic.

But it’s not just the timing that’s raising eyebrows – it’s also the presentation. Harris recently unveiled her plan for cannabis reform and economic opportunities for Black communities in a slickly produced video featuring a diverse group of young men. While the intention may have been to showcase her commitment to these issues, it comes off as a bit too polished and contrived. It’s almost as if her team sat down and said, “How can we make this appeal to young Black men?” Cue the trendy music and carefully curated visuals.

Now, I’m not saying that Harris doesn’t genuinely care about these issues. But as a seasoned politician, it’s hard to believe that she’s not aware of the optics and potential for pandering. And let’s not forget that Harris has a complicated history with cannabis – as a prosecutor, she notoriously enforced harsh drug laws that disproportionately affected Black communities. While she has since changed her stance and supports legalization, it’s worth questioning her sincerity and commitment to this cause.

Ultimately, it’s up to each individual voter to decide whether Harris’s promises are genuine or just a ploy for votes. But as we approach the election, let’s not be swayed by flashy campaign tactics and instead focus on the actions and track record of our candidates. After all, actions speak louder than words – even if those words are delivered in a trendy, hipster-esque video.
