Diadora Celebrates Football’s Impact on Global Style with Reintroduction of Two Iconic Models

This season, heritage sports label Diadora is paying homage to the influence of football on global fashion by bringing back two iconic models from its archive: the Game and the Tokyo. These sneakers have been reinterpreted through a modern lens, maintaining their original identity while incorporating fresh perspectives from a new team of creatives and models.

The Tokyo: A Casual Staple with a Strong Heritage

Originally launched in the 1970s, the Tokyo was a casual staple for football fans in Diadora’s home country of Italy. With a strong presence on terraces, this silhouette has a rich history that serves as a source of inspiration for the new project. The Tokyo is available in two colorways, “Black” and “Forest Green”, embodying a new vision of the sport that celebrates both players and spectators.

The Game: From the Tennis Court to the British Terrace

Also making a comeback is the Game, which was first introduced as a performance court shoe for tennis players. However, it has since found a place on the British terrace, becoming a beloved style among fashion-forward fans. The Game is available in four iterations, three of which are white-based and the fourth in black for versatility and timelessness.

Pushing Boundaries with a Fresh Perspective

Producer Sam Le Roy explains the concept behind the project, stating, “We really wanted to present the pairs in their original context, utilizing a cast of models and creatives that push the boundary slightly.” While these sneakers have a strong connection to football, they have evolved to become a staple in casual and court culture. The new campaign showcases this evolution while paying homage to their roots.
