Blackmerle’s Spring/Summer 2025 Collection: Distorted and Moody
After delivering a dark and dystopian Fall/Winter 2024 collection, Blackmerle is already looking ahead to next season with a Spring/Summer 2025 collection that is equally edgy and moody.
Wearability Meets Transgression in Blackmerle’s Design Ethos
According to the Seoul-based label, finding the perfect balance between wearability and transgression is crucial to their design direction. The collection’s notes explain that the garments are “reduced yet severe,” allowing the wearer to reveal or conceal their attitude while blending into their surroundings.
Signature Tonal Scheme and Textural Evolution
Continuing with the palettes of previous seasons, Blackmerle’s SS25 collection features light greys with hints of lilac and pale purple-greys, staying true to the label’s signature “Rat Grey” tonal scheme. The brand also introduces new textures, such as a Washi paper fabric dyed with Binchō-tan charcoal, which adds natural wrinkles, organic shading, and uneven streaks to the fabric. Another standout fabric is a lightweight cotton-linen typewriter textile, which has a rough texture and is dyed to highlight its unevenness.
Introducing Blackmerle’s First-Ever Jewelry Line
In addition to ready-to-wear pieces, the SS25 collection also includes Blackmerle’s first-ever 925 silver jewelry line, created in collaboration with ceramic artist Siiot. The line features hand-crafted ceramic rings cast with 925 silver, showcasing the intricate design processes and fine details involved in each piece’s creation.
