Doublet’s SS26 Collection: A Feast for the Eyes and the Environment
At Paris Fashion Week, Doublet unveiled its Spring/Summer 2026 collection, inspired by the Japanese phrase “いただきます/Itadakimasu” and Sky High Farm’s sustainable ethos. The result? A visually whimsical and materially conscious lineup that blurs the line between food and fashion.
The collection, designed by Masayuki Ino, takes the traditional Japanese expression of gratitude for food and transforms it into wearable art. Collaborating with environmentally mindful individuals and organizations, Doublet used eco-conscious materials like fish leather, eggshells, and repurposed fishing nets to create garments resembling bananas, radishes, eggs, and more.
The presentation itself was a playful culinary experience, with the audience sitting on hay bales. One standout piece was a hyperrealistic banana dress, complete with a peel-like outer layer and a zipper for added realism. Another striking look featured a hooded banana ensemble with a zipper extending to the top of the head, mimicking the natural curve and texture of the fruit.
But it wasn’t just bananas that stole the show. Doublet also showcased garments in the forms of radishes, carrots, and eggs, challenging conventional ideas of luxury and craftsmanship. Through this collection, the brand proves that art can be found and worn through unexpected lenses.
So next time you say “いただきます/Itadakimasu,” remember that fashion can also be a form of gratitude for the environment and the community. Doublet’s SS26 collection is a reminder to nourish not only our bodies but also our planet.
