Vans’ Latest Offering: The MTE Crosspath – The Ultimate All-Terrain Shoe

Vans has always been known for providing footwear that can take wearers on any adventure, whether it’s on the ramp or off. But their newest release, the MTE Crosspath, takes versatility and progressiveness to a whole new level. This all-terrain shoe is designed to seamlessly transition from city streets to mountain trails, all while maintaining that effortlessly cool Vans look.

Signature Elements with a Technically Advanced Build

The MTE Crosspath incorporates signature Vans elements, such as the classic Sidestripe and red Off the Wall heel tab, while also introducing new features. The shoe’s build is updated with advanced technology, making it stand out from other all-terrain options.

Elevated Performance Features

The MTE Crosspath and its higher cut variation, the MTE Crosspath Mid, are equipped with performance features that truly set them apart. Vans has taken sustainability into consideration, using 100% recycled PET for the shoe’s uppers, reinforced with seamless RAPIDWELD™ construction and a non-PFC DWR water-repellent coating. The midsole is made from 50% bio-based EVA foam derived from plants, and 31% of the outsole’s rubber is regeneratively-grown, promoting more environmentally-friendly farming practices.

Comfort and Durability Combined

The MTE Crosspath is designed for all-day wear, with a roomy toe box and contoured insoles for maximum comfort. But don’t let the comfort fool you, the shoe is also built to withstand rough terrain and harsh conditions. The new traction pattern provides maximum surface area contact, ensuring a secure grip on any surface.

Tested by Vans Snowboarding Team Riders

The MTE Crosspath and Crosspath Mid will be released alongside the second installment of the Crosspath story, featuring Vans Snowboarding team riders Ryo Aizawa, Jake Kuyzk, Jill Perkins, and Ivika Jürgenson as they put the shoe’s durability to the test in St. Johns, Newfoundland.

Design Director Matt Nosbusch on the MTE Crosspath

Hypebeast had the opportunity to speak with Matt Nosbusch, Design Director for MTE, about the shoe’s capabilities and standout features. When asked about what sets this all-terrain offering apart from other durable models from Vans, Nosbusch explained that the Crosspath offers a lighter-weight, 4-season approach with maximum cushioning, traction, and all-day versatility. He also emphasized the importance of balancing functionality with style, stating that the goal was to create a shoe that is both aesthetically pleasing and highly functional. And for those concerned about comfort, Nosbusch assured that the Crosspath is designed with a new upper shape that provides a snug fit while allowing for more room in the toe box.
