Maison Margiela’s REPLICA Fragrance Line Takes Us on a Journey Through Fantasy
Since its debut in 2012, Maison Margiela’s REPLICA fragrance line has been transporting us to different worlds with its scents. And now, the brand has unveiled a new collection of Eaux de Parfum under its “REPLICA FANTASIES” line, featuring three new black-bottled scents: “Soul of the Forest,” “Dancing on the Moon,” and “Flying.”
These three fragrances are designed to delve into our personal fantasies, imagination, and collective subconscious, staying true to the ethos of the REPLICA FANTASIES line since its launch in 2016. According to the press release, these scents create “compelling utopias and alternative universes” that embody Maison Margiela’s spirit of deconstruction and reconstruction.
Each fragrance is crafted by master perfumers and focuses on one “fantasy ingredient” at the heart of its formula. These ingredients are made up of carefully selected raw materials of the highest quality, combined with the expertise of master perfumers to create a unique and surreal experience.
The first scent, “Soul of the Forest,” immerses us in an aromatic wilderness with its fantasy ingredient of Mystical Wood. This fragrance also features notes of Cedarwood Essence, Patchouli Essence, and Moss Accord, creating an ethereal and earthy scent. Master Perfumer Quentin Bisch describes it as a “collision between earthly reality and dreamy wonder.”
Next up is “Dancing on the Moon,” which embraces its Moon Dust fantasy ingredient and adds in Aldehydes Notes, Iris Notes, and a White Flower Bouquet. Master Perfumer Fanny Bal explains that this scent is “opalescent” with sensual mineral undertones, taking us on a cosmic journey.
Completing the range is “Flying,” which captures the exhilaration of flying through the sky with its surrealist Ozonic Cloud fantasy ingredient. This fragrance is enhanced by Petitgrain Essence, Orange Blossom Accord, and Musks Accord. Master Perfumer Marie Salamagne describes it as a “harmonious fragrance” that is fresh, airy, and comforting, like a beautiful dream.
