Cecilie Bahnsen Takes Us on a Journey Through Tokyo’s Mountains in Her Spring/Summer 2025 Collection
Danish designer Cecilie Bahnsen has once again wowed the fashion world with her latest collection for Spring/Summer 2025. In a Gesamtkunstwerk, or “total work of art,” showcased at Paris Fashion Week, Bahnsen has created a thriving exploratory ecosystem filled with flourishing florals, growing greenery, and her signature Cecilie-core clothing. But it’s not just the stunning designs that have caught our attention – the live music from Japanese artist Takashi Homma and the unique setting of an abandoned Parisian flat have transported us to the calming mountain ranges of Tokyo.
Inspired by a conversation with Homma about shooting in the mountains outside Tokyo, Bahnsen’s collection, titled “The Crux,” pays tribute to the beauty and inspiration found in those mountains. As she explains in the collection notes, “Last year, I had the chance to experience Takashi’s live music performance during his solo photo exhibition ‘Revolution 9’ at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum… This inspired the concept of a fashion show installation, featuring live performance and projections of his photography. His music, alongside his mountain imagery, intertwined with the feeling of an abandoned Paris flat, will set the tone for the entire experience.”
The models, including professional rock climbers Brooke Raboutou, Molly Thompson-Smith, and Solenne Piret, among others, strutted down the runway as Homma’s blue-hued mountain photography adorned the walls. The collection, featuring 33 looks, is centered around Bahnsen’s “skeleton flower,” a bloom that becomes transparent in the rain, symbolizing overlooked internal beauty and nature’s hidden inner workings. Craftsmanship is also on full display, with airy nylon outerwear and structured skirting paired together. And in true “Never Stop Exploring” fashion, Bahnsen has collaborated with The North Face and Asics, incorporating their fabrics and techniques into her designs.
But don’t worry, Bahnsen hasn’t forgotten her roots in Copenhagen. Dark sequin accents and romantic flowy skirting are still present, adding a touch of her signature style to the collection. So take a journey through Tokyo’s mountains with Cecilie Bahnsen’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection, and stay tuned to Hypebeast for more coverage on Paris Fashion Week.
