Instead, his goal was to improve upon the foundation of the Ja 1 and tell his personal story through his sneakers.
Leading the design team for the Ja 2 is Nike’s own Jarrett Mann, who emphasized two key elements in the shoe: bounce and control. The Ja 2 features Cushlon foam and a forefoot Air Zoom unit for maximum comfort and support, as well as a new molded midfoot panel for improved lockdown and transitional movement.
But the Ja 2 is more than just a technical masterpiece. It’s also a canvas for storytelling, with each colorway representing a different chapter in Ja’s life. The “In the Woods” colorway, inspired by Ja’s childhood memories on his grandma’s porch, is his personal favorite. Other colorways include the “Purple Sky” design, representing Ja’s mesmerizing flow on the court, and the “Nightmare” pair, a nod to the fear opponents feel when facing Ja.
