Ludovic de Saint Sernin Named Next Guest Designer for Jean Paul Gaultier
Paris Couture Week is about to get even more exciting with the announcement that Ludovic de Saint Sernin will be the next guest designer for Jean Paul Gaultier. The Paris-based fashioner, known for his sensual styles and provocative cuts, will be creating a one-off couture collection for the Puig-owned label in January of next year.
According to WWD, rumors of this collaboration have been circulating for some time, and now it’s official. De Saint Sernin will join the ranks of other high-profile designers who have been invited to reimagine Gaultier’s expansive archive, including Nicolas Di Felice, Simone Rocha, Julien Dossena, Haider Ackermann, Olivier Rousteing, Glenn Martens, and Chitose Abe.
With his background in fashion and experience working for Dior and Balmain, de Saint Sernin is an ideal candidate for the job. His affinity for gender fluidity and sexual expression aligns perfectly with Gaultier’s own design codes. In fact, his Fall 2024 collection featured skin-revealing cuts, chainmail details, and BDSM-inspired leather harnesses adorned with the work of Robert Mapplethorpe.
The highly anticipated Jean Paul Gaultier collection by Ludovic de Saint Sernin will debut during the next Paris Couture Week, scheduled to take place from January 27 to 30. Get ready for a bold and boundary-pushing collaboration that will surely make waves in the fashion world.
