Diesel Takes Over Milan Fashion Week with Denim Domination
When you think of Diesel, you think of denim. And at Milan Fashion Week, the iconic brand proved that their love for the hardy material runs deep. In fact, denim was the star of the show at their SS25 presentation, with over 15 tons of denim scraps making up the entire set. But this wasn’t just for show – Diesel is committed to circularity and sustainability, and the set will be repurposed after the show.
“There is beauty in waste, in what is distressed and destroyed,” said Glenn Martens, Diesel’s creative director. “It’s in the circularity of denim waste, and into the distressing that we build into the collection. This is the disruption of Diesel: we are pushing for circularity in our production as hard as we push the elevation of design.”
And this commitment to denim and circularity was evident in Martens’ latest collection for the brand. With over 70 looks, the humble material was elevated in various ways, from coats made from leftover spools of denim thread to archival bandanna prints coated onto pleated fabric for a trompe l’oeil effect. The collection also featured double-breasted leather jackets that were treated to look like distressed denim, and pieces with “distressed” necklines that were actually made from devoré jacquard.
But the eye-deceiving details didn’t stop there. The collection also included overdyed denim in a camel color, denim micro shorts with extra-long fringing, and eerie contact lenses paired with some of the looks. Diesel has truly taken over Milan Fashion Week with their denim domination, and we can’t wait to see what they have in store for the future.
