Maison Margiela’s MM6 Sub-Label Takes Over Milan Fashion Week with Iconic White Paint Moments
The highly anticipated Maison Margiela sub-label MM6 made a statement at Milan Fashion Week with a runway presentation filled with classic Margiela moments. One of the standout pieces was a collaboration with iconic footwear brand Dr. Martens, featuring hand-painted 1460 8-eyelet boots in a striking white color.
The boots, dipped entirely in a chalky white paint, perfectly complemented the hand-painted garments in the collection. The paint was intentionally peeling off in some areas, adding to the edgy and artistic aesthetic.
The Spring/Summer 2025 showcase paid homage to Margiela’s different eras and style codes, with a heavy focus on the iconic white paint motif that has been a recurring theme throughout the brand’s history. In addition to the Dr. Martens collaboration, cowboy boots were also seen covered in crackling white paint.
This is not the first time MM6 has collaborated with Dr. Martens, as they previously debuted a hybrid silhouette at their Fall/Winter 2024 runway show. The unique design combined a derby shoe and a loafer into one, showcasing the innovative and boundary-pushing nature of both brands.
