GCDS: The Italian Brand That’s Taking Over the Fashion World
Founded by the dynamic duo of Giuliano and Giordano Calza, GCDS has been making waves in the fashion industry for the past decade. With a bold and fearless approach to design, the brand is known for its pop cultural references and contemporary spunk. And their latest SS25 show was no exception.
Neon Green Takes Center Stage
The show opened with a bang, as models strutted down the runway in head-to-toe neon green looks. This vibrant shade immediately brought to mind Charli XCX’s iconic 2024 Brat LP, and the energy and attitude that comes with it. From sheer mesh tank tops to lustrous fur jeans, the green pieces were eye-catching and edgy. And let’s not forget the hairy neon green duffle bag that added a touch of playfulness to the collection.
Bold Colors and Flattering Silhouettes
But it wasn’t just about the neon green. GCDS also incorporated other bold colors like collegiate yellow, ultraviolet, and hot Barbie pink into their collection. And instead of their usual heavy prints and graphics, the brand focused on form-flattering silhouettes that exuded confidence and sexiness. Think nylon tracksuits, pleated mini skirts, and satin trousers.
A Nod to Pop Culture
For those who were paying close attention, there were subtle nods to pop culture throughout the show. From a yellow Hello Kitty bra to a black crochet tank with Badts Maru appliques, the brand incorporated playful references to Sanrio characters. And the closing song, “Everything is Romantic,” confirmed the Charli XCX reference with its camp techno ballad and repeated lyrics of “Fall in love, again, and again…”
A Maximalist Statement
GCDS has always been known for their maximalist approach to fashion, and this collection was no different. But instead of heavy prints and graphics, the brand opted for smooth solid fabrics and sharp, sexy lines. And the result was a concise and powerful statement that solidified the Calza brothers’ place in the fashion world.
