Foday Dumbuya’s LABRUM: Bringing Cultural Flair to London Fashion Week
London Fashion Week has always been a hub for creativity and innovation, but one designer has consistently stood out season after season: Foday Dumbuya and his brand LABRUM. With each collection, Dumbuya brings a unique cultural perspective to the runway, captivating audiences and pushing the boundaries of fashion.
For Fall/Winter 2024, LABRUM took us on a journey through color at London’s Tate Britain art museum. And for Spring/Summer 2025, the London-based imprint brought its vibrant energy to Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium. But this isn’t just a one-time collaboration – Dumbuya is building a strong relationship with the British football club, even paying tribute to the African diaspora through their 2024/25 away kit.
The off-season stadium was transformed into a fashion paradise under the British sunshine, with local players strutting their stuff on the runway. The show opened with UK grime rapper and MC Ghetts, setting the tone for an intimate and energetic display of LABRUM’s latest collection.
The brand showcased a modern take on military-inspired fashion, with raised paneling and branded drawstrings on their co-ord sets. Arsenal’s defensive midfielder Declan Rice even joined in on the action, elevating LABRUM’s signature suiting with unique crossed ribbon details.
But it wasn’t just menswear on display – LABRUM also incorporated traditional headgear and abstract figures into their designs. British talent Michael Dapaah rocked a patched top with clawed ornamentation, adding a touch of ruling energy to the collection.
And in true LABRUM fashion, the brand upcycled pre-released Arsenal kits to create a fully-fledged bodysuit with promotional “VISIT RAWANDA” branding. The collection was completed with embellished gowns, passport stamp-printed suiting, and multi-colored monarch uniforms, showcasing the brand’s versatility and attention to detail.
