Celebrities and Icons Come Together for Bottega Veneta’s 50th Anniversary Campaign

Bottega Veneta, the luxury fashion house known for its iconic Intrecciato leather weave, is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a star-studded campaign titled “Craft is our Language.” Shot by Jack Davison and choreographed by Lenio Kaklea, the campaign features a diverse cast of recognizable faces from the worlds of art, film, fashion, literature, music, and sports.

The photographs capture intimate hand gestures, symbolizing the interconnection and exchange that the Intrecciato weave represents. The cast includes pop record producer Jack Antonoff, film director Dario Argento, designer Edward Buchanan, artist and sculptor Barbara Chase-Riboud, singer-songwriter Neneh Cherry, filmmaker and record producer Dave Free, actress Lauren Hutton, singer I.N of Stray Kids, and many more.

Each talent is seen wearing various Bottega Veneta pieces, from Intrecciato bags and gloves to luxurious ready-to-wear garments. Of particular note is Edward Buchanan, who served as Design Director of the house from 1995 to 2000 and introduced Bottega Veneta’s first-ever Ready-to-Wear collection. Lauren Hutton also sported an Intrecciato clutch in the 1980 movie American Gigolo, giving the signature weave wider exposure in pop culture.

The Intrecciato weave, first introduced in 1975, involves hand-weaving slender leather strips into a leather base panel or around a wooden mold. This meticulous process, drawing from centuries-spanning Italian tradition and the leather work expertise of the Veneto region, sets Bottega Veneta’s method apart with its innovative diagonal arrangement and top-notch quality.

To further celebrate the 50th anniversary, Bottega Veneta will release a new book in September, serving as a “dictionary” for the language, craft, and values of the house. The campaign will also expand into a new installment of photographs and short films featuring new faces.
