Tommy Bogo Returns to NYFW with Futuristic Modular Set and “Reverse Engineering” Collection
For his highly-anticipated return to New York Fashion Week, Bay Area designer Tommy Bogo pulled out all the stops. The innovative designer showcased his Spring/Summer 2025 collection, titled “Reverse Engineering,” on a futuristic modular set designed by USM. The set, which encircled the penthouse of Manhattan’s NeueHouse Madison Square, perfectly complemented the experimental and boundary-pushing pieces on display.
In an interview, Bogo explained the concept behind the collection, stating, “With ‘Reverse Engineering,’ we didn’t just present a collection; we invited our audience to experience the deconstruction and reconstruction of fashion.” The runway show featured a conceptual performance, with models walking down the first runway before meeting “lab techs” in silver-studded white hazmat suits on a second platform. The techs then inspected and elevated each look, adding bags, eyewear, or other accessories to complete the outfit.
The collection, consisting of 27 unisex looks, was a star-studded affair with appearances from Rich Amiri, AUDREY NUNA, Duckwrth, Billyracxx, UnoTheActivist, and AKTHESAVIOR. The dominant theme of the collection was detachability, with many of the pieces featuring customizable features. Standout pieces included utilitarian jackets in various shapes and structures, such as bombers, cropped jackets, moto jackets, and trench coats. Bogo also incorporated oversized pockets into jackets, baggy pants, and skirts, as well as a multitude of oversized pocketed bags and TOMBOGO Tabi Swiper Mules for footwear.
The presentation also marked Bogo’s debut in the music space, with his first original single under the TOMBOGO name, “Another Time,” serving as the show’s backing track. Bogo explained, “Each piece told a story of functionality meeting creativity, sustainability meeting style. The addition of my personal music to the show added another layer to this story, allowing our audience to connect with the emotion and inspiration behind the designs. By literally deconstructing our creative process on the runway, we offered a unique insight into the TOMBOGO ethos.”
