CCueva and Chez Ma Tante: A Match Made in Greenpoint
In the bustling neighborhood of Greenpoint, two new neighbors have formed an unlikely but strong bond. Cueva, a menswear outfitter owned by Justin Felizzari, and Chez Ma Tante, a European-inspired eatery founded by Chef Jake Leiber and Chef de Cuisine Gabriel Borges, have become fast friends in just under a year.
Their friendship is built on shared Brooklyn days spent shopping at Cueva and nights indulging in the finest feasts at Chez Ma Tante. With community at the heart of their budding brotherhood, the two businesses have decided to make it official with a debut clothing collaboration.
To take their friendship to the next level, Cueva and Chez Ma Tante have enlisted the help of Italian atelier Barena Venezia. The result is a masterful merging of friendship, food, and fashion in the form of a four-piece bespoke collection, available in three colorways each.
Paying homage to Barena’s first-ever collection in 1993, which was an apron collection, the trio brings functionality to the kitchen with three full looks of overshirts and pant sets. Each set comes with a matching tee and apron, making it the perfect outfit for any cooking enthusiast.
While the collection was crafted entirely in Italy, Barena Venezia’s Chief Creative Officer, Davide Sambin Zara, believes it aligns best with the spirit of New York City. “New York is deeply connected with Venice,” explained Sambin Zara in a press statement. “Actually, Venice was the New York of the planet if we go a few centuries back. Both cities are set on water and are/were the epicenter of international commerce.”
The Cueva x Chez Ma Tante x Barena Venezia collaboration is now available at both Cueva’s NYC outposts in the West Village and Greenpoint. Take a closer look at the collection in the lookbook above and get your hands on these unique pieces that perfectly blend fashion, food, and friendship.
