Daniel Lee’s Burberry: A Contemporary Take on Heritage

Burberry, the iconic London House, has always been known for its striking edge. Under the creative direction of Daniel Lee, the brand continues to honor its legacy with age-old checks, houndstooth patterns, and Savile Row-inspired designs. But Lee’s take on the heritage brand is anything but traditional. Photographer Tyrone Lebon has expertly captured Lee’s contemporary vision through raw campaigns that let the designer’s slyly subversive silhouettes speak for themselves. (If you need a refresher, just take a look at the Spring 2024 campaign.)

Reuniting in the Lake District for Winter 2024

For Winter 2024, Lee and Lebon reunited in the picturesque Lake District. The stunning landscapes and people of the UK and Ireland served as the mood board for their sartorial portraits. “We were inspired by the characters who wear Burberry, and the outdoors and landscapes that are part of the brand’s heritage,” Lee stated. “The Lake District feels familiar, and it has a sense of adventure.”

Classic Trenches and More

The photos from the campaign showcase Burberry’s classic trenches in a variety of materials, including moleskin, wool, and leather. Field jackets with multiple layers and duffle coats lined with shearling also make an appearance. Kilts are reimagined in Burberry Check wool, while double-breasted suits feature impeccable Savile Row tailoring. The bags in the campaign draw inspiration from the brand’s history, with the Tent bag featuring the iconic Equestrian Knight logo and the Rocking Horse bag paying homage to the same symbol.

Winter 2024 Color Palette

Set against the natural landscapes of the Lake District, Lee’s Winter 2024 color palette is a perfect fit. Deep browns, dark greens, signature beiges, and custard creams all make an appearance, adding to the overall mood of the campaign. To see the full campaign, check out the gallery above.
