Whatnot Spotlights Sneaker Category in UK with Livestream Auction and Re:soled Kits
As the trend of shopping for pre-loved goods continues to rise, Whatnot, a popular livestream shopping platform, is shining a spotlight on its sneaker category in the UK. With sellers already offering their kicks in the sneakers and streetwear section, the dedicated category makes it easier for buyers to find the sneakers they’re looking for by allowing them to search by brand, style, or silhouette.
“Our love for sneakers has been going strong since the craze began in the 1980s. Since then, we’ve seen the sneaker industry explode with sneakerheads at the forefront,” explains Daniel Fisher, general manager of Whatnot, about the platform’s integration of a sneaker category. “Some collect to wear, display, or resell – it’s a growing micro-industry driven by the passion and enthusiasm for sneakers, athleisure, and self-expression.”
To celebrate the launch of its sneaker category, Whatnot is teaming up with renowned London-based sneakerhead Kish Kash for a livestream auction on Thursday. Joining him will be sneaker seller Jed Brailey. Kish Kash, who has been building his collection of 2,000 sneakers over the past 30 years, will be auctioning off highly sought-after silhouettes from brands like Nike and adidas, as well as new models from Saucony. All proceeds from the auction will be donated to Kish Kash’s chosen charity, Breast Cancer Now.
During the livestream, Kish Kash will also be showcasing Whatnot’s new Re:soled kits. These kits, created in collaboration with shoe care brand Sneaky, include specialized cleaning solutions, brushes, and wipes to help restore sneakers and keep them in sellable condition. As a special treat for viewers, Kish Kash will be giving away free kits and other sneaker-related prizes from partner sellers.
For those interested in checking out the Re:soled kits, they are available online now. To learn more about Whatnot, be sure to follow the brand on Instagram.
