Japanese Denim Takes a Backseat: Studio Nicholson and YOSHIDA & Co. Team Up for a Luxurious Collection of Japanese Nylon Products
When you think of Japanese fashion, the first thing that may come to mind is their renowned denim. But there’s another material that deserves the spotlight – Japanese nylon. And Studio Nicholson, a British apparel label, is teaming up with YOSHIDA & Co.’s POTR line to showcase the luxury and durability of this lesser-known fabric.
The collection, featuring three handcrafted products, is elegantly cast in Studio Nicholson’s signature Darkest Navy color. The standout piece is the roomy Bonsac shoulder bag, which perfectly embodies the thoughtful approach of the capsule. The smaller messenger bag and key pouch also boast discreet branding and concealed stitches, highlighting the high-quality Japanese nylon used for the collection. And for a touch of luxury, premium tanned cowhide leather adorns the zip pulls.
Founder & Creative Director of Studio Nicholson, Nick Wakeman, raves about the fabric, stating “It is a really, really special material that is neither black, gray or navy, making it extremely versatile and the perfect accessory for any daily outfit.” And it’s not just any nylon – the 100% recycled high-density taffeta nylon boasts a matte washed look and is salt-treated to create a fluorine-free, water-repellent finish. The fabrics are also made with a three-layer bonding and polyester padding, while the inner lining is supported by 70D durable ripstop.
The Studio Nicholson x POTR collection will be available on May 1 at the Studio Nicholson web store and in-store globally at Studio Nicholson and Porter Yoshida & Co. stores, including locations in the UK, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Dover Street Market Ginza. Don’t miss your chance to get your hands on these luxurious and durable Japanese nylon products.
