Supreme Teams Up with Spike Lee’s 40 Acres and a Mule for a Fashion Line Featuring Iconic Films
Supreme, the iconic streetwear brand, has joined forces with 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks, the production company founded by entertainment titan Spike Lee and fellow filmmaker Monty Ross in 1979. The collaboration features a fashion line inspired by Lee’s groundbreaking films, Malcolm X and Clockers.
40 Acres and a Mule: A Name with a Powerful History
Named after the broken promise made to newly freed slaves following the Civil War, 40 Acres and a Mule is the production arm behind all of Lee’s documentary and feature films, iconic commercials, and music videos. The company has found major success since its inception and has now expanded into the world of fashion.
Championing Spike Lee’s Career with Supreme’s Collaboration
The Supreme x 40 Acres collaboration includes a varsity jacket, baseball jersey, two T-shirts, and a six-panel hat, all inspired by Lee’s work. The varsity jacket features a circular 40 Acre patch and Supreme lettering on the chest, with a massive X across the back, paying homage to Lee’s film, Malcolm X. The baseball jersey also features the 40 Acres patch, with “Supreme” and “40” block letters on the back, similar to a player’s name and number. One T-shirt showcases a famous image of Lee holding a camera, while another features the iconic “X” motif. The collection is completed with a cap embroidered with Clockers iconography.
