Louis Vuitton’s Cruise 2026 Show Returns to Birthplace in France at Historic Palais des Papes in Avignon
After much anticipation, Louis Vuitton has finally revealed the location for its highly-anticipated Cruise 2026 show. The French Maison’s latest collection, designed by women’s director Nicolas Ghesquière, will be showcased at the UNESCO World Heritage Site Palais des Papes in Avignon, France on May 2022.
Illuminating the City of Popes
Not only will the Palais des Papes serve as the backdrop for the show, but Louis Vuitton will also be funding a long-term project to illuminate the facades of several historic buildings in Avignon, including the Palais des Papes, a cathedral, the Petit Palais, the Hôtel des Monnaies, and the Hotel Calvet de la Palun.
A Rich History
Built in the late 14th century, the Palais des Papes was once the temporary seat of the Roman Catholic Papacy. Known as the “city of Popes,” Avignon has a rich history dating back to medieval times. The Palais des Papes, built by Popes Benedict XII and Clement VI, was described by French writer Froissart as “the most well-fortified house in the world.” Its Gothic architecture and opulent interiors make it one of the most important sites in the world.
A Return to France
This will be the first time since 2021 that Ghesquière has presented Louis Vuitton’s Cruise collection in France. In 2021, he showcased a Space Age-themed collection on the outskirts of Paris. In recent years, the brand has hosted its Cruise shows at iconic locations such as Antonio Gaudí’s Park Güell in Barcelona and Isola Bella on Lake Maggiore in Italy.

Louis Vuitton is not the only luxury house to announce its Cruise show location. Chanel will be presenting at Lake Como on April 29, Gucci will return to Florence on May 15, and Dior will showcase its collection in Rome on May 27. With such prestigious locations and talented designers, the Cruise 2026 season is sure to be one to remember.
