Kiko Kostadinov and ASICS Take the Gel Kiril to the Next Level

The collaboration between London-based designer Kiko Kostadinov and ASICS continues to push boundaries with the release of the Gel-Kiril 3. This third generation of the popular sneaker features two new colorways and upgraded details, showcasing the evolution of Japanese worker uniforms through the lens of ASICS’ technical expertise and Kostadinov’s cutting-edge vision.

As a favorite collaborator of the Japanese runner brand, Kostadinov is known for challenging ASICS’ design aesthetic with unconventional details and forward-thinking sensibilities. The Gel-Kiril 3 is no exception, drawing inspiration from ASICS’ past workwear footwear offerings and incorporating utilitarian elements such as a raised TPU front and a debossed pattern on the lateral overlays. These details give the shoes a distressed, almost reptilian feel.

The Gel-Kiril 3 will be available in two colorways: a tonal brown with pops of yellow and a mostly black with electric blue overlays. Both versions feature bold textures and embossed patterns on the uppers and outsoles, adding an eccentric touch to the durable shoes.

To celebrate the release, a series of activations are planned in Los Angeles, CA and London, England. The Los Angeles store will host a performance by Jade Guanaro Kuriki-Olivo on February 21, followed by a London event at the ICA featuring performances by Patrick Belaga and Bill Kouligas on February 22. Both events will have the Gel-Kiril 3 available for purchase, with a digital release on Monday, February 24 at 10 am GMT on ASICS’ web store.
