Union LA and Jordan Brand Team Up Again for New Air Jordan 1 Collab
Get ready sneakerheads, because Union LA and Jordan Brand are back at it again with a new Air Jordan 1 collaboration. After the huge success of their previous split-styled collabs in 2018, the duo is set to release a new “Varsity Red” colorway before the end of February. But that’s not all – a never-before-seen fourth colorway has just been revealed.
A Familiar Formula with a Twist
The new colorway, which may be a sample, continues the trend of combining OG colorways that the partnership is known for. This time, the design blends elements of the Air Jordan 1 “UNC” and the Air Jordan 1 “Royal.” Sneaker collector Matt “Shoe Hefner” Jae shared a photo of the new style, which features a black-and-blue “Royal” collar detailing above a white and powder blue upper. The midsoles have an aged look and the outsole is powder blue. But what sets this collab apart are the unique details, such as a suede collar – a nod to the OG 1985 Air Jordan 1s, and bold stitching below the collar as a nod to the shoe’s Frankensteined design. The custom tongue tag adds an extra touch of exclusivity.
Is It a Retail Release or Just a Concept?
As of now, there is no official word on whether this collaboration will see a retail release or if it’s just an early concept or sample. But with Jordan Brand celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Air Jordan 1 in 2025, it wouldn’t be surprising to see this collab hit shelves at some point. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated release.
