Thom Browne Shuts Down NYFW with Whimsical Fall 2025 Runway Show at The Shed
On Tuesday evening, the fashion world was transported to a dreamlike state at The Shed in Hudson Yards as Thom Browne closed down New York Fashion Week with a mesmerizing Fall 2025 runway show. The designer’s latest collection, filled with fine, colorful, and exquisitely layered suiting, left everyone in attendance dreaming big.
Origami Birds and Celebrities Galore
Under a sky of 2,000 origami birds, A-listers like Queen Latifah, Adrien Brody, and Lucky Blue Smith mingled in classic Thom Browne attire, while a glowing white cage placed gracefully in the center of the runway caught the attention of many. Inside the miniature enclosure, two love birds were trapped, symbolizing the longing for freedom that Browne described in his show notes.
A Whimsical Spectacle
As the show began, two models emerged in parka coats and perched themselves on a folded desk, crafting more origami flyers and observing Browne’s whimsical entourage slowly reveal themselves from backstage. The remaining 64 models, or “otherworldly visitors” as Browne called them, embraced the label’s signature whimsy.
Works of Art
The collection featured heritage tweeds from England, bold-shouldered coats, shrunken argyle cardigans, and cocoon-like jackets inspired by flycatchers and rich men’s suiting. The designer’s suits were pure works of art, with birds rendered in satin stitch and gold bullion embroidery, and kaleidoscopic strokes of acrylic paint adding texture to windowpane checks.
A Fashion Dream Come True
As the extravagant brigade scattered the runway, one attendee whispered, “I feel like I’m experiencing my fashion dream.” And with Browne’s opening inquiry in the show notes, “How marvelous would it be to be exactly who we wish to be?” it’s clear that inspiring and wowing the crowd was part of the designer’s intention. And he certainly succeeded, showcasing some of American fashion’s best suits.
