Caroline Hu x adidas Originals Silk Samba: A Luxurious Twist on a Classic
Caroline Hu, the talented designer behind the well-received adidas Originals collection last November, is back with a new trio of silk-covered Samba designs. These sneakers are set to release in Spring 2025 and will be available for purchase on the adidas website.
Hu’s latest interpretation of the iconic Samba silhouette features layers of gathered silk, giving the shoe a unique and luxurious “soft shell” aesthetic. The intricate gatherings add a delicate yet bold touch to the design.
The Silk Sambas come in three colorways: “Power Red,” “Dark Blue,” and “Silver Metallic.” The red and silver versions feature off-white Three Stripes, while the blue iteration boasts sharp metallic stripes. The structured leather stripes provide a contrast to the flowing silk frills, creating a balanced and eye-catching look.
Each colorway maintains its dominant theme throughout the sockliner and laces, except for the silver version which features a white heel and laces, adding a subtle contrast to the shimmering metallic silk.
While this release may be more understated compared to Hu’s previous work on the Reverie and Superstar, her artisanal craftsmanship is still unmistakable. One standout element is Hu’s name stamped onto the tag on the tongue, adding a personal signature to the design.
