Copenhagen Fashion Week: Where Sustainability Meets Imagination
Copenhagen Fashion Week is not your average European fashion showcase. It’s a refreshing break from the hustle and bustle of other fashion events, with a focus on innovative and forward-thinking designs rather than flashy, viral moments. In fact, some industry leaders are now ranking it as one of the top five fashion weeks in the world.
The recently-concluded Autumn/Winter 2025 showcase was a prime example of why Copenhagen Fashion Week is gaining such recognition. Each brand not only presented imaginative collections, but also had to meet CPHFW’s strict sustainability standards. And the street style was just as impressive, with attendees rocking unique layered looks, brain-teasing print mixing, and top-notch tailoring.
But the fashion shows were just one part of the action in Copenhagen. Collaborations were celebrated with intimate dinners, such as NN.07 x SLOP Magazine and NAKED CPH x Nike AirMax, and the city’s largest fashion fair, CIFF, showcased both global and local Danish brands. Amidst all the excitement, a few moments stood out above the rest.
One of these moments was Deadwood’s collaboration with Tretorn. Last season, the brand wowed with their indie-sleaze inspired looks made from found and upcycled materials. This season, they took things to the sea. On a cool Tuesday, guests gathered on the terrace of CPH’s Villa Hotel, which had been sprayed with water to create a post-rain effect. Models walked down a runway that was actually the hotel’s lap pool, showcasing a collection that embodied an “undone” and “shipwrecked” aesthetic. And the star of the show? Deadwood’s new collaboration with Tretorn: rubber rain boots, perfect for navigating the wet runway. Of course, sustainability remained at the core of the collection, with upcycled leather and recycled materials used throughout.
