Kim Jones Steps Down as Artistic Director of Dior Men
It’s the end of an era at Dior as Kim Jones officially announces his departure from the luxury fashion house. After leading the menswear line since 2018, the British designer presented his final collection for Dior Men’s Fall 2025 collection.
Rumors of Jones’ exit have been circulating for some time now, with speculation reaching a fever pitch during the recent menswear fashion week in Paris. But now, it’s official. And what better way to go out than with France’s highest distinction, the chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur, bestowed upon him by none other than his longtime friend and Vogue’s editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour.
In a statement from Delphine Arnault, chairman and CEO of Dior, she expressed her gratitude for Jones’ work, saying, “I am extremely grateful for the remarkable work done by Kim Jones, his studio, and the ateliers. With all his talent and creativity, he has constantly reinterpreted the house’s heritage with genuine freedom of tone and surprising, highly desirable artistic collaborations.”
Jones himself also shared his appreciation for his time at Dior, thanking LVMH and the Dior team for their support. “It was a true honor to have been able to create my collections within the House of Dior, a symbol of absolute excellence,” he said. “I express my deep gratitude to my studio and the ateliers who have accompanied me on this wonderful journey. They have brought my creations to life. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the artists and friends I have met through my collaborations. Lastly, I feel sincere gratitude towards Bernard and Delphine Arnault, who have given me their full support.”
Jones, a graduate of Central St. Martins College of Art and Design, started his own eponymous brand from 2003 to 2008 before joining Louis Vuitton as their artistic director of men’s ready-to-wear in 2011. During his five-year tenure at LV, he made major strides in the streetwear and luxury crossover market, including the highly successful collaboration with Supreme. In 2018, he was appointed as the artistic director of Dior Homme, where he continued to push boundaries with collaborations, including KAWS, Shawn Stussy, Eli Russell Linnetz, and Stone Island. He also made history by launching Dior Men’s first-ever couture collection.
Between 2020-2024, Jones also took on the role of artistic director for Fendi’s women’s collection, a position previously held by the legendary Karl Lagerfeld. And while his final collection for Dior Men may have been a more subdued affair, it was a reflection of his time at the house and left a poignant note as the industry prepares for his departure.
Hypebeast was able to go backstage at Jones’ last show and attend the full presentation, capturing the emotional atmosphere as the fashion world says goodbye to a true visionary. As for what’s next for Jones, only time will tell. But one thing is for sure, he will continue to leave his mark on the fashion industry for years to come.
