Simon Porte Jacquemus’ Spring 2025 Show: A Raw and Intimate Affair in Paris
Something was noticeably raw about Simon Porte Jacquemus’ latest fashion show in Paris on Sunday. Titled “LA CROISIÈRE” (French for “CRUISE”), the event was held in the iconic apartment of French architect Auguste Perret, known for his stripped-back Art Deco style. With only 40 guests in attendance, including celebrities like Central Cee, Tyla, and Hongjoong, the show was an intimate affair with a hip and minimalist vibe.
The models, including legendary names like Christy Turlington and Adriana Lima, exuded a timeless elegance reminiscent of the 1950s. The entire show was captured on an iPhone 16 Pro Max, adding a modern twist to the classic setting.
In his own words, Jacquemus explained the inspiration behind the collection: “With this collection, I want to bare myself before you, without artifice, just our silhouettes in the intimacy of Perret’s apartment.” This was a departure from his usual extravagant destination shows, such as the Fall 2024 show in Capri where attendees arrived by private boats to Casa Malaparte.
The designs showcased in the historic setting were nothing short of instant classics. Double-breasted blazers paired with sharply pleated trousers, minimal coats cinched at the waist, and structured formal coats contrasted with short-shorts. The women’s looks, featuring drop-waisted skirts and hourglass dresses, celebrated the human form with a touch of old Hollywood glamour. The “naked” gowns, worn by Lima on the runway and Tyla in the front row, embodied Jacquemus’ theme of baring it all.
On the footwear front, the show featured a new addition to Jacquemus’ ongoing collaboration with Nike: a revamped version of the iconic “Moon Shoe” from 1972. The archival silhouette was given a modern twist with a yellowy hue and the brand’s signature Waffle sole.
Overall, Jacquemus’ Spring 2025 show was a deliberate and intentional display of minimalism and nostalgia. It was a nod to the past, with a revived modernist twist. Check out the collection in the gallery above and stay tuned to Hypebeast for more coverage of Paris Fashion Week.
