Kim Jones Strikes Again with Dior Men’s Fall/Winter 2025 Collection
Paris Fashion Week was set ablaze with the highly anticipated Dior Men’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection, designed by the one and only Kim Jones. Held at the École Militaire, the show was a spectacle from start to finish, with a militant grey fortress as the backdrop and a sprawling, illuminated staircase leading the way.
The Front Row: A Star-Studded Affair
As always, the front row was filled with the who’s who of the fashion world, including A-listers like Robert Pattinson, Kate Moss, and Jay Chou. Jones’ dear friends and loyal supporters of the Dior brand were eager to see what he had in store for this season’s collection.
The Set: A Reflection of Simplicity and Rigour
Jones’ sets have become an integral part of his collections, and this season was no different. In an exclusive interview with Hypebeast, Jones revealed that the set was a reflection of the simplicity and rigour of the collection. He wanted to create a sense of something monumental, while still staying true to the minimalist theme. Jones explained, “I always think of the set and the music at the same time as I think of the collection – they’re indivisible to me.”
Inspired by the Archives: Monsieur Dior’s “H Line”
Jones drew inspiration from Monsieur Dior’s classic “H Line” from his Fall 1954 haute couture collection. The illusion of a longer silhouette was achieved through double-breasted formals shaped in the letter “H”. Jones saw the potential for this archival line to be translated into menswear, and incorporated graphic and angular elements into his collection.
Metamorphosis: A Theme of Transformation
The concept of metamorphosis was evident throughout the collection, with a mix of time periods and a transformation of garments from feminine to masculine. Jones seamlessly blended ready-to-wear pieces with more formal presentations, showcasing couture-like silhouettes.
Ethereal Elegance: A Timeless and Sophisticated Collection
The main theme of the collection was ethereal elegance, with a focus on simplicity, cleanliness, and timelessness. Jones continued to pay homage to the archives with the use of embroidery from Monsieur Dior’s Spring/Summer 1948 Haute Couture “Pondichéry” look, recreated in the final pink robe look that closed the show.
A Contemporary Take on Fashion History
Jones’ collection was a nod to fashion history, with elements from the extravagance of the 18th century to the more utilitarian shapes of the 19th century. By infusing these historical references with a contemporary lens, Jones created a collection that is both timeless and modern. Dior Men’s Fall/Winter 2025 is a testament to Jones’ ability to bring archival silhouettes to life in a fresh and innovative way.
