Martine Rose’s FW25 Collection: Exploring the Depths of Subcultures
Martine Rose is back with her latest collection, FW25, and it’s a wild ride through the depths of subcultures. The designer has once again embraced her signature lo-fi art direction and distorted facial prosthetics, first introduced in her SS25 campaign. This time, she’s inviting questions about the definition of beauty and taste.
With a mix of discordant branding, kitschy prints and patterns, and vintage silhouettes from different eras, Rose’s collection is a celebration of the underground. From London’s dusty secondhand markets to underground rave dancefloors, she’s exploring the places where subcultures thrive.
In a statement from the brand, Rose explains, “I’ve always been interested in finding beauty in the cracks and crevices of culture. After having shows where people were relatable and familiar, I wanted to ask: Can I distort someone’s traditional beauty and still find them sexy? And actually, I can.”
Rose’s unconventional approach to design and styling reflects the free expression that is at the core of her brand ethos. It’s this genre-agnostic, cross-cultural influence that has caught the attention of the industry. The collection features velour animal prints, 90s-inspired patterns, and Martine Rose-branded football jerseys and outdoor gear, including military parkas and motorsport jackets.
The bottom half of the collection is just as eclectic, with basketball shorts, acid-washed jeans, oversized pleated trousers, and workwear pants styled with a mix of pieces. One standout piece is a pair of leather fringe trousers, available in black and red. The looks are completed with souvenir-style caps, fetishwear belts, and chain embellishments, adding even more character to each outfit. And for the first time, Martine Rose has introduced a handbag made with Ostrich-embossed leather.
The footwear lineup is equally bold, with chunky toe boxes, various leather uppers, and silver hardware. The collection also includes a new Martine Rose handbag made with Ostrich-embossed leather.
As of now, there is no official release date for the collection, so stay tuned to Hypebeast for updates. Martine Rose’s FW25 collection is sure to make a statement and push the boundaries of fashion.
