Our Legacy’s Fall/Winter 2025 Fashion Manifesto: “AULA” Unveils the Transformative Power of Style
During Milan Fashion Week, Our Legacy’s latest collection, “AULA,” took center stage and showcased the incredible ability of fashion to completely change one’s outward appearance. Designer Cristopher Nying’s collection notes emphasized the contrast between the mundane “everyday life” and the sharpness of being “on duty.”
In an interview, Nying shared his fascination with how our surroundings can influence the personas we adopt. He described a tobacconist who transforms from an ordinary and practical worker during the day to a vibrant and expressive character at night. Nying also recalled a moment when he ran into an old hockey teammate in the park and didn’t recognize him at first, highlighting how environment and context can blur the lines of recognition.
To replicate this phenomenon for Milan’s elite, Nying styled his models in two completely opposite looks, making it difficult to match each subject with their alter-ego. The lookbook showcases striking contrasts, with punkish streetwear enthusiasts transformed into posh socialites and boldly avant-garde individuals turned into carefully subdued fashion icons. Even intimidating leather-lovers were seen shapeshifting into preppy teacher’s pets.
The tobacconist mentioned by Nying also served as a focal point for the collection’s mood board. The line’s color palette, featuring deep brown, ashy grey, muted green, and yellow tint, was inspired by the evolution of tobacco stores from luxury locales to “parcel hubs,” as noted by the designer.
The final takeaway from Our Legacy’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection is that the modern client must be adaptable and unafraid to experiment with their style. By drawing a stylistic Venn diagram between who they are, how they appear, and who they want to become, they can expand beyond their wardrobe’s comfort zone.
