2025: The 5-Year Anniversary of the Iconic Fragment Design x Air Jordan 3 Collaboration

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been five years since the legendary Hiroshi Fujiwara and his brand fragment design joined forces with Jordan Brand to release a highly coveted version of the Air Jordan 3. The collaboration, which dropped in 2020, featured a sleek white design with black accents on the mudguard and fragment design’s signature thunderbolt logo on the heel. However, what really made this shoe stand out was its unique transparent heel, which unfortunately became known for yellowing over time due to oxidation.

While only one pair of this collaboration was officially released, Fujiwara and Jordan Brand had several other samples in the works. In 2019, Fujiwara teased a blue, white, and black colorway, and later revealed an all-gray version of the shoe. And now, we have a detailed look at yet another unreleased AJ3 from the duo: a black and white version of the 2020 pair.

This inverted color scheme is a simple yet striking change from the original release. Instead of a white leather upper, the shoe features a sleek black design, while the mudguard has been switched from black to white. But the most noticeable difference is the heel, which has been replaced with a traditional Nike Air branding on a black tab.

Unfortunately, it’s unlikely that this version will ever make it to store shelves, as it was created five years ago. However, fans can still look forward to more collaborations between fragment design and Jordan Brand, as the duo is expected to play a major role in the upcoming 40th anniversary celebration of the Air Jordan 1. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting partnership.
