ASICS Takes Retro Running to the Next Level with GEL-KAYANO 20 Collabs

The early to late 2000s were a time of loud and technical aesthetics in the running world, and ASICS is bringing back that energy with their classic running silhouettes. The GEL-KAYANO 20, originally released in 2013 as a long-distance running shoe, has now become a canvas for collaborations with top designers and brands like Bodega, Kiko Kostadinov, JJJJound, and HAL STUDIOS.

The standout colorway, Neptune Blue and Black, is a bold and vibrant tribute to the ocean. The entire shoe is dominated by a striking oceanic blue, from the uppers and overlays to the midsole and outsole. Light green accents in the form of air cushions and the ASICS word mark on the tongue add a refreshing touch, while violet outlines make the black overlays appear to glow.

For those who prefer a more understated look, the Black and Pure Silver colorway offers a sleek and versatile option. The black uppers, silver overlay details, and mostly white sole create a well-balanced palette that is perfect for casual styling. Hints of royal blue in the overlay outlines and on the ASICS wordmark on the tongue add a subtle pop of color. The darker colorway is completed with duo-tone black laces featuring silver edges.

Both of ASICS’ new GEL-KAYANO 20 colorways will be available on January 17 on the ASICS web store and select retailers. Don’t miss your chance to add these retro-inspired kicks to your collection!
