Union x DISCOVERED: A Tokyo Collaboration
Los Angeles-based retailer Union has made the long journey to Tokyo for a special collaboration with Japanese label DISCOVERED. The two brands have joined forces for a joint pop-up at Shibuya Parco, offering a six-piece line that will be available in-store and online from December 27 to January 5.
Reconstructing Fashion with DISCOVERED
The collaborative collection draws inspiration from the reconstruction methods used by DISCOVERED founders Tatsuya Kimura and Sanae Yoshida. Since 2001, the duo has been creating custom garments for local musicians by deconstructing and reassembling clothing with unique stitching and appliques. DISCOVERED refers to this process as “newsed,” reflecting their innovative approach to fashion.
Stand Out Pieces
One of the standout pieces in the collection is a cream-colored fisherman cardigan adorned with thick yarn embroideries. The chunky knit features multi-colored floral designs and loose hanging threads, adding a grungy appeal to the garment. Another eye-catching item is the black Mohair MA-1 bomber jacket, which uses a cozy textile in an unconventional way and is accented with unfinished white-stitched logos. The collection also includes two distressed hoodies in heather gray and black, perfect for layering. These hoodies also feature free-hanging yarns for added character. Rounding out the line-up are two cobranded T-shirts in black and cream, each featuring duo-toned graphics and embroidery.
Featuring Bay Area Rapper Larry June
To showcase the collection, Union and DISCOVERED have enlisted Bay Area rapper Larry June for their campaign. The pop-up can be found at Shibuya PARCO 3F 15-1 Udagawacho, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo. Don’t miss your chance to snag these unique and stylish pieces from the Union x DISCOVERED collaboration.
