Heron Preston Reclaims Ownership of Namesake Label, Promises New Era of Authentic Creativity

After years of corporate entanglement, designer Heron Preston has announced his triumphant return to his eponymous label. In a bold move, Preston has regained full ownership and creative control of his brand, signaling a fresh start and a new era of authentic creativity.

Reviving the Vision

Preston initially launched his brand in 2017 under the New Guards Group (NGG), alongside other luxury streetwear pioneers like Virgil Abloh. However, after NGG’s acquisition by Farfetch in 2019 and later Coupang in 2023, the holding company faced financial instability and ultimately filed for bankruptcy in late 2024. Despite the challenges, Preston fought tirelessly to protect his vision and in July 2025, he officially reacquired all legal and commercial rights to his name.

Restoring Independence and Creative Freedom

With full ownership of his label once again, Preston can now restore his independence and creative freedom. This decision allows him to chart a new course for the brand, free from the influence of outside investors. In a statement shared on his Instagram, the designer expressed the intensity of his journey, stating, “I have been through hell to protect what I have built. I fought for my name, my work and my vision. Now I am back with more purpose than ever.”

Reconnecting with New York

The announcement also reveals that Preston plans to relaunch the brand from New York, the city that shaped his early career. This move signifies a return to his roots and a reconnection with the city that inspired his original vision.
