Nike Renames World Headquarters to Honor Co-Founder Phil Knight

In a bold move that pays tribute to its visionary co-founder, Nike has officially renamed its World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon, to the Philip H. Knight Campus. The 400-acre campus, known for its collegiate and sports-inspired design, will now bear the name of the man who transformed the brand into a global symbol of sport.

The decision, announced by President and CEO Elliott Hill in an all-staff memo, marks the first time in the company’s 35-year history that the headquarters has been renamed. Hill emphasized that the change is more than just symbolic; it serves as a reminder to all employees of the “founder’s mentality” – a spirit of restlessness, boldness, and belief in what is possible.

Designed with Knight’s input, the campus features over 40 buildings named after legendary Nike athletes such as Michael Jordan, Serena Williams, and LeBron James. Hill stated in the all-staff email, “This is more than a name change. It’s a tribute to the man whose vision created a global movement. And it’s a reminder to every one of us who will walk these paths and run these fields – of what can happen when belief meets action.”

The renaming of the campus to the Philip H. Knight Campus (PHK) is effective immediately, with new signage to be rolled out over the next year. The company plans to hold a formal dedication event in Spring 2026, honoring Knight’s lasting impact on sport and culture. This decision solidifies Knight’s influence and cements his name at the heart of the brand he helped build.
