CFDA Fashion Awards Announce 2025 Nominees: American Designers Dominate
The fashion world is buzzing with excitement as the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) has officially revealed the nominees and honorees for the highly anticipated 2025 CFDA Fashion Awards. Presented by Amazon Fashion, this year’s ceremony will showcase a diverse range of talent, from established American icons to up-and-coming voices in the industry.
Big Names and Rising Stars Compete for Top Honors
The American Museum of Natural History in New York City will be the setting for this year’s CFDA Fashion Awards on November 3. In the category of American Womenswear Designer of the Year, industry veterans like Ralph Lauren and Tory Burch will go head-to-head with emerging designers Rachel Scott for Diotima and Wes Gordon for Carolina Herrera. The American Menswear Designer of the Year category is also stacked with big names, including Thom Browne, Willy Chavarria, The Row, Amiri, and Eckhaus Latta.
Accessories and Emerging Designers Also in the Spotlight
The competition for American Accessory Designer of the Year is just as fierce, with nominees such as Ana Khouri, Catherine Holstein for Khaite, Raul Lopez for Luar, Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen for The Row, and Tory Burch. For those on the rise, the Google Shopping American Emerging Designer of the Year award nominees include Ashlynn Park for Ashlyn and Bernard James.
Recognizing Industry Veterans and Last Year’s Winners
In addition to the main categories, the CFDA will also honor industry veterans for their enduring contributions, including Donatella Versace with the Positive Change Award and Ralph Rucci with the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award. This year’s nominees closely mirror last year’s, with designer Willy Chavarria winning American Menswear Designer for the past two years and Rachel Scott of Diotima winning the Shop with Google American Emerging Designer of the Year award in 2023 and subsequently taking home the title of American Womenswear Designer of the Year in 2024. Raul Lopez of Luar, last year’s Accessories Designer of the Year, is also up for the award once again. The CFDA has also teased that more honoree awards will be announced at a later date.
