This Year Marks the 20th Anniversary of BAPE’s Iconic Shark Full-Zip Hoodie
BAPE, the beloved streetwear brand founded by Nigo, is celebrating a major milestone this year – the 20th anniversary of its signature Shark Full-Zip Hoodie. This iconic silhouette has become synonymous with the label, thanks to its avant-garde face-covering feature and sharp-toothed design.
To commemorate this momentous occasion, the Japanese label is re-releasing the first and second editions of the Shark Full-Zip Hoodie in a variety of archival colorways, complete with all the original design details.
The First-Edition Word Gone Mad (WGM) Design
The first edition of the Shark Full-Zip Hoodie features the old FrankenApe branding and the iconic “Ape Shall Never Kill Ape” tagline. Crafted from thick US cotton, this silhouette boasts the brand’s signature woodland camo print in five different colorways.
The Second-Edition Point Of No Return (PONR) Design
The second edition of the hoodie, also available in five hues, showcases the Point Of No Return (PONR) acronym from 2005 on the back of the hood. It also features a specially designed thermal lining for added warmth and comfort.
In a statement, the brand expressed, “This hoodie has always represented the freedom to stand out, brought to life through creativity and Japanese craftsmanship. The Shark Full-Zip Hoodie is not just a garment; it is a bold reinterpretation of everyday wear and an innovative take on the silhouettes of elevated streetwear.”
