Louis Vuitton Takes Over NYC with New Flagship Store and Culinary Delights
Louis Vuitton, the iconic French fashion house, has made a bold move in the Big Apple. While their flagship store undergoes a multi-year renovation, the brand has temporarily relocated to a stunning five-story Art Deco-inspired building on 57th Street. This new location is not just a store, but a “cornerstone of retail, culture, and gastronomy.”
A Feast for the Eyes and the Taste Buds
As soon as you step inside, you’ll be greeted by an impressive atrium filled with towering Courrier Lozine 90 trunk sculptures, designed by OMA’s Shohei Shigematsu. These sculptures lead you to the new Louis Vuitton café, chocolate shop, and culinary concept, as well as exclusive capsule collections on each floor. The space is so grand that the sculptures almost touch the ceiling.
What to Expect on Each Floor
The first floor is dedicated to leather goods, while the second floor is dominated by womenswear. The third floor is all about menswear, and the fourth floor is home to the chocolate shop and Le Café Louis Vuitton. The fifth floor is where you’ll find private retail lounge spaces and the brand’s homeware collections. But that’s not all – each floor also features oversized murals celebrating some of Louis Vuitton’s most iconic artist collaborations, including Richard Prince, Yayoi Kusama, Supreme, Takashi Murakami, and Stephen Sprouse.
A Culinary Experience Like No Other
The fourth-floor café is the first of its kind in the United States, and it’s already booked out for the next two months. Renowned chefs Christophe Ballanca and Mary George, with mentorship from French cooks Arnaud Donckele and Maxime Frédéric, have created a menu that includes dishes like lobster and truffle raviolis embossed with the iconic Monogram flower, Damier tartlets filled with seasonal ingredients, and LV-ified burgers. And for fashion lovers, the label’s logo is playfully embedded into every dish. The space itself features a main dining room, a bar, and a reading alcove, with a total of 70 seats. The walls are lined with LV’s own library, curated by editor Ian Luna, where you can purchase over 600 books mid-meal. And the tables are adorned with Louis Vuitton’s own plates, which are also available for purchase upstairs.
A Sweet Treat for Chocolate Lovers
The chocolate shop on the fourth floor is Louis Vuitton’s first in America. After finding success in Paris, Singapore, and Shanghai, Le Chocolat Maxime Frédéric at Louis Vuitton has made its way to the US. Here, you can indulge in classic chocolate bars, hazelnut bonbons, and even functioning Vivienne-shaped music boxes – all made entirely out of chocolate.
A Temporary Store with a Lasting Impression
Although this location is temporary, it’s sure to make a lasting impression. The store officially opens on November 15, and you can find it at 6 E. 57th Street in New York City. Don’t miss your chance to experience the ultimate Louis Vuitton shopping and dining experience.
