Phillips Celebrates 10 Years of Record-Breaking Watch Sales with Decade One Auction in Geneva

Phillips, the renowned auction house, is set to host its highly anticipated Decade One 10th Anniversary Auction in Geneva on November 8 – 9. This event marks a milestone for the department, which has made a name for itself in the watch world with its remarkable auctions, groundbreaking research, and record-setting results.

Headlining the Sale: The Legendary Patek Philippe Ref. 1518 in Stainless Steel

At the heart of the Decade One auction is the first stainless-steel Patek Philippe Ref. 1518 ever made, one of only four known examples in existence. This watch, estimated to sell for over 8 million CHF (approximately $10 million USD), is considered a holy grail among collectors. In 2016, it set a world record for the most expensive wristwatch ever sold at auction when it was last offered by Phillips.

A Triptych of Ref. 1518s: A Once-in-a-Generation Opportunity

What makes this sale even more extraordinary is the unprecedented appearance of three Ref. 1518s in different variations: stainless steel, yellow gold, and the ultra-rare “pink-on-pink” configuration. The “pink-on-pink” model, with its pink-gold case and salmon pink-toned dial, is one of only 15 known examples and is considered one of the most exclusive complicated Patek Philippe wristwatches ever made.

Beyond Patek Philippe: Exceptional Rarities for Collectors

The Decade One auction also features a range of exceptional timepieces from various brands and styles. Highlights include a rare “Rainbow” Rolex Day-Date Ref. 18059 made for the Sultanate of Oman, a unique Naissance d’Une Montre 3 by Ferdinand Berthoud, and a F.P. Journe Chronomètre à Résonance “Souscription, 2/20” – the second example produced in the original 2000 series.

A Must-Attend Event for Watch Enthusiasts and Collectors

With its impressive lineup of rare and sought-after timepieces, the Decade One auction is a must-attend event for watch enthusiasts and collectors alike. Don’t miss this opportunity to acquire some of the most important and coveted watches in horological history.
