Berry Bros. & Rudd Releases Exclusive Single Malt Japanese Whisky – Shindo Experimental 01

Heritage British wine and spirits merchant Berry Bros. & Rudd has once again proven their expertise in sourcing and bottling exceptional spirits with the release of Shindo Experimental 01 – a Single Malt Japanese Whisky crafted by Shindo Distillery. This highly anticipated release, available for pre-order In Bond starting October 30, is a result of a collaboration between two masters in their respective fields.

Crafted by Shindo Distillery, Rooted in Tradition

Shindo Distillery, founded in 2021 by Shinozaki, one of Japan’s oldest and most respected brewing and distilling houses, brings over 200 years of saké and shochu-making heritage to the table. This partnership with Berry Bros. & Rudd, known for their sharp eye in sourcing and bottling standout spirits, is a perfect blend of craftsmanship and expertise.

Unlocking New Flavours through Fermentation

Shindo Experimental 01 is a bold expression of Japanese flavour and technique, thanks to Shindo Distillery’s obsession with fermentation. By using a mix of rare yeasts, they are able to explore and unlock new layers of flavour in their whisky. Made from non-peated malted barley, this whisky is matured in a unique cask mix of 91% Bourbon, 4% New Mizunara, 4% Oloroso Sherry, and 1% Refilled Scotch. Bottled at 50% ABV, this micro-batch drop is limited to just 300 bottles allocated to the UK, available exclusively through Berry Bros. & Rudd.

A Special Limited Release

Rob Whitehead, Spirits Buyer at Berry Bros. & Rudd, describes Shindo Experimental 01 as “moreish mastery” from Fukuoka in Southern Japan, showcasing the delicious fruits of experimental fermentation and impeccable distillation. With only 300 bottles available in the UK, this limited release is truly special.
