Engineered Garments and Brooks Brothers Team Up to Redefine Formalwear
In a groundbreaking collaboration, NYC-based label Engineered Garments has joined forces with Brooks Brothers to create a limited edition collection that blurs the lines between formalwear and casual workwear. The collection, which includes denim tuxedo jackets and utilitarian trousers, aims to strike the perfect balance between formality and ease.
According to Engineered Garments founder Daiki Suzuki, the goal of the partnership was to “create a new interpretation of formalwear that balances the seemingly opposing extremes of formality and casual ease.” In close collaboration with Brooks Brothers CEO Ken Ohashi and creative director Michael Bastian, Suzuki and the 207-year-old label set out to challenge the traditional boundaries of occasion dressing and everyday attire.
Ohashi expressed his excitement about the collaboration, stating that working with Engineered Garments allowed them to “explore formalwear codes in an entirely new light – mixing tradition with unexpected creativity in a way that feels both authentic and fresh.”
The collection features a variety of unique pieces, such as a denim tuxedo jacket with satin lapels and wide-leg trousers with a utilitarian cut. Drawing inspiration from the Brooks Brothers archives, the collection also includes denim and Oxford cravat shirts, paying homage to the original 1960s Brooks Brothers shirt called the Clarney. Other standout pieces include blazers paired with indigo denim, a striped tie transformed into a flamboyant bow, and suits styled with beanies and sneakers.
This is not the first time Engineered Garments has collaborated with other brands. In the past, they have worked with retailers like UNIQLO and more recently, have partnered with Red Wing for footwear and J.Crew for apparel. This latest collaboration with Brooks Brothers continues to showcase Engineered Garments’ urban tailoring aesthetic, with the added expertise of one of menswear’s pioneering tastemakers.
The Brooks Brothers x Engineered Garments collection will be available on October 22 at the Brooks Brothers 195 Broadway flagship store, as well as online at Brooks Brothers and Engineered Garments’ webshop, nepenthesny.com. Don’t miss your chance to snag a piece from this highly anticipated and boundary-pushing collection.
