Issey Miyake Takes on the Human Form for Spring/Summer 2026 Collection

The fifth day of Paris Fashion Week was kicked off by Issey Miyake’s bold and playful Spring/Summer 2026 collection, which reimagined the human body as a conscious and autonomous object. The Japanese fashion powerhouse set the tone with live beats and sculptural showpieces, inviting guests to see their form in a new light.

The collection, titled “Being Garments, Being Sentient,” challenged traditional dress codes with asymmetrical shoulder pads, open-back button-down shirts, and sleeves left to dangle freely. Wool blazers were stripped of an arm and jackets were transformed into trousers, while graphic tees and hoodies featured protruding shoulders, all set to the live soundscapes of Tarek Atou.

Drapage took center stage in the form of sculptural dresses, ribbed robes, and plant-printed eveningwear, showcasing a vibrant mix of colors and patterns. The show concluded with models carrying fresh CAMPERLAB boxes, teasing a new slip-on collaboration for SS26.
