Fear of God Essentials and MLB Team Up for Atlanta Capsule Collection

Fear of God Essentials has joined forces with MLB to create a special collection celebrating the vibrant culture and sports heritage of Atlanta. The campaign, fronted by Georgia-born rapper 2 Chainz, pays homage to the city’s contributions to rap music and the Civil Rights movement.

Collaborations with New Era and Franklin Sports

The Atlanta Capsule features collaborations with trusted industry leaders, including New Era for caps and Franklin Sports for sweatshirts and batting gloves. The pieces showcase Atlanta’s top sports teams, such as the Braves (MLB), Falcons (NFL), and Hawks (NBA), as well as historic Negro Leagues like the Monarchs, Black Crackers, Black Yankees, Grays, and X-Giants.

Empowering Graphics with a Political Message

The collection’s graphics make a bold political statement, drawing inspiration from chants and signage from the 1960s Black Liberation movement in Atlanta. Phrases like “We Won’t Move” and “Freedom Now” are featured, along with a powerful reminder to “Don’t buy where you can’t work,” echoing the consumer boycotts of the era. This message is especially relevant in today’s climate, as retailers face backlash for scaling back on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

Atlanta: A Hub for Sports, Music, and Culture

Atlanta has solidified its status as a sports hub, hosting the 1996 Summer Olympics. It has also become a center for African-American arts and music, with some of the world’s most renowned rappers hailing from the city, including 21 Savage, Andre 3000, Young Thug, Gucci Mane, Soulja Boy, and 2 Chainz. The Fear of God x MLB collection celebrates these thriving cultural movements while honoring the historic struggles of African-American communities.

Available at The Webster and Fear of God Web Store

The Atlanta Capsule will be exclusively available at The Webster in Lenox Square this Friday, and later on the Fear of God web store. Don’t miss your chance to snag a piece of this limited edition collection that celebrates the rich history and culture of Atlanta.
